Little Italy, Toronto Neighbourhood

Stone stairs walkways and garden beds

Many of Toronto’s Little Italy homes have steep hills that lead to their front doors. These entrances require a staging the steepness into tiered stairways. Landcare’s design and construction team removed the existing and dilapidated stairs and garden beds that were originally constructed with timber beams. These were replaced by new concrete block foundations that meet and exceed safety codes, and integrated stone garden beds, walls and walkways. This new and more aesthetically beautiful design is also more durable, will not erode over time and will provide safe passage to the homeowner and visitors. Landcare’s design team also added lighting and new plants in the garden beds to add beauty, interest and safety. This home was transformed from looking tired and neglected to fresh and upscale. Night lighting adds 24 hour visual interest. Light adds a sculptural element to gardens and walkways while also providing increase safety to visitors by casting warm light on the path. Garden beds were filled with new soil augmented with better fertilizer, new plants and mulch. This allows for low maintenance without compromising the beauty orĀ  visual interest of the plants and gardens. The curb appeal of this property has increased greatly by Landcare Landscaping Design and Build teams.
