Upper Beaches Toronto, Refresh

A house with a view

Landcare’s landscape design and landscape contracting were enlisted to update this client’s front pathway, steps, gardens and porch along with a total redesign of their small backyard into an oasis. Perched high on a hill, the front of their property required a solid and safe pathway with stairs that could be maintained through all seasons including winters. But they also required an updated beautiful entrance to their home. Landcare’s landscape designer was charged with matching some existing stone elements while facing concrete steps and bringing them up to date with the new and improved design.
One of the challenges of a property like in the Upper Beaches, Toronto is the full sun garden located at the bottom of the stairway. Landcare planted hardy drought tolerant low maintenance plants like Russian Sage, etc. The use of mulch and stones will naturally keep weeds at bay, and keep watering to a minimum.
The neighbours were so impressed, they too enlisted landcare’s design team. The two properties share the lower garden. In both cases, the landscapes of the 1980’s were given a current trend facelift.

A stone pathway leading to the backyard was added and flows into a natural flagstone patio. The layout of the backyard was flipped, a charming shed was added with lattice for climbing hydrangea, and an extensive garden redesign with a serene seating area was created. The property owners also renovated their exterior door and patio leading into the backyard from their house and splurged on a hot-tub and decking area to make extend their home into the outdoors all year around. These additions turned this Toronto Beaches home into the perfect place to relax and enjoy it’s year round beauty.
